VEGAN,CRUELTY FREE Skin Care Routine for Dry and Acne Prone Skin with Dark Spots (No Benzoyl Peroxide)

I've recently gone vegan and my beauty regime has been in the transition of changing into products that are vegan and cruelty free. The skin care regime I had going on turned out to be accidentally vegan. I really do think that the skin care I have going on right now is working for my skin. I've been using the products for a while now and I'm confident to share it. My skin is still healing and dealing with acne but I know it's hormonal& stress related so it is something I have to deal with.

My Skin Type:
-dry patches, overall tightness
-super prone to break outs and frequently acne (hormonal and stress acne)
-acne scarring and dark spots
-too sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide

Cleansing (Make Up Removal):
Depending on whether I have make up on or not, I'll start with a make up remover.
I use The Body Shop's Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm for my waterproof eye makeup and The Body Shop's Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil for the rest of my face.
I'll apply pea sized amount of the cleansing balm to each of my eye lids then take two pumps of the cleansing oil and massage it over my face. Once I massage my face I'll GENTLY massage my eyes.
When I feel like I've massaged my face to the point the make up has broken up I'll dampen my hands with water and massage again. I'll repeat the damping of the hands and massaging once more and then rinse off the rest.

Cleansing (Morning):
In the morning I use the Yes To Tomatoes Gel Cleanser (This is being discontinued and I plan to try their Blueberry cleanser) with the Foreo Mini Luna.

Cleansing (Night):
At night I use the Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub. I massage this onto damp skin, and take it down my neck. Then I'll rinse my hands and massage with the damp hands again (to start breaking down the cleanser). I'll rinse the rest and pat my skin down.

Toning & Moisturising (Morning):
In the morning I'll use the Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Floral Toner, I'll mist some onto my face. Then (before the toner dries) I'll go in with Yes To Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer. The moisturizer is a bit thick so the toner helps it spread more easily.
I'll finish off with the Josie Maran Daily Moisturizer with SPF 47.

Toning & Moisturising & Treating (Night):
At night I'll use a cotton pad and spray some of the toner onto it and wipe my face down in case of any residual makeup/cleanser). Then, I'll take the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant on another cotton pad (I cut my cotton pads in half to be less wasteful) and apply it to all over my face). Once I let that dry I'll go in with the Yes To Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer.
Lastly, I'll take the Paula's Choice Resist 25% Vitamin C Brown Spot Treatment on any spots (whether they be pimples, acne scars or dark spots). Alternatively, I also use the Paula's Choice Resist BHA 9 for stubborn pimples. However, I found the vitamin C spot treatment works on pimples and dark spots, so instead of using both I just use the brown spot treatment for all spots.

I really want to try some of the Paula's Choice Retinol products since they have such awesome reviews. I plan to place an order soon!
Any questions about each product just post below! :)
Hope this can help at least one person.

  1. I came across your blog while researching the Michael Todd bi-light. I read your experience on that, and then read some of your other posts.
Does the regime above help resolve your acne better than the bi-light?

    1. Hi! I really like the regime over the bi-light. The bi-light just takes too long for results to show and I fell asleep couple of times using it. LOL. I just prefer the scrub in combo with the BHA exfoliant for the small bumpy acne. The vitamin C treatment helps with the big painful hormonal ones. I would say moisturizer and cleanser is your preference.
